2012 Screenplay/Teleplay Intern Application

We’re Looking For Sharp, Ambitious, Creative Youth

for the 2012 Crash The Coast Film Festival’s Screenplay and Teleplay Team

Both of the screenplay coordinators for the 2012 Crash The Coast Film Festival grew up in Corpus Christi and attended Mary Carroll High School. So we know that at times it can seem like the city fails to reach out to young people to get them involved, invested, and interested in what’s going on in the city around them. We know sometime’s it doesn’t provide us with all of the opportunities we’d like that we can show off to those universities we’d like to get into, or that future employer we’re eyeing, or those filmmakers/artists for whom we’d like to work. And hell, I know we would’ve liked more opportunities to meet people around the city interested in watching or making movies and writing–people we could learn from. So all that changes today.

Listen dude–straight up–we’re giving you a film festival. This is one of the coolest, most progressive things you could ask for out of Corpus Christi. We’re bringing films from all over the country for you to watch, enjoy, and learn from. We’re bringing guest speakers and panels and parties and seminars. And we want you to be a part of it. We want you to help make it happen. Screenplay is just one division, and if  you’re a writer you know that it’s an often overlooked division of the filmmaking process. Not on our watch.

As a screenplay/teleplay intern, you’ll assist in organizing submissions, communicating with screenwriters, publicizing at local high schools and universities, and reading over some scripts as an extra eye in the vetting process. You will be trained in how to read scripts, our anonymity policies, and what Crash The Coast is looking for in a screenplay or teleplay. The time commitment is reasonable, and real. Easy to juggle with your other activities. The more involved you are, the more it’s your own.

We’re looking for the best in Corpus Christi. Even if you don’t think you are, we might. So fill out a short application and if we think you’re right for us we’ll grab a coffee or boba tea and get you on your way to building the newest, most interesting event in Corpus Christi.

YOLO,

Roman Gonzalez and Jimmy Willden, Screenplay/Teleplay Coordinators
